An introduction to my art

I feel like being an artist is like creating a visual archive, It says so much about who we are in what we chose to represent and in what our choices of colour. If you had to pick from a line up of artists and guess who created which painting you might well guess right. I am not a wealthy person, i am from a rural area, i am connected to nature and i flit between magical and practical thinking. Hello. If you look at my work you will see a lot of natural colours and a lot of stories. I paint things because they are beautiful if i feel emotionally moved by them but i also paint thing to make people think or to share a thought which feels like a revelation.

Projects

I think i'm going to talk about my projects one at a time because there is quite a lot to them

River Wye Project.'Taking the waters'

I did a lot of walking where i used to live and i became fascinated with the streams that became the river that made the bowl which holds the town that sells its water called Buxton.

The steams seamed to disappear many times as they made there way to the main river and i wanted to know which stream let where and where it started from. The project took me a year to complete and all of the individual painting joined together to make a pictorial map that filled a room a the Green man gallery in Buxton. I had measeard them so that the pictures left no gaps and a recurring pattern would show up made by using upright watery landscape paintings surrounding close up paintings of the water surface from the same area. The paintings are on sale on my website now for £60 each and have been removed from their stretches for storage and postage. They are quite old now so its been a pleasure to go through them and remember the journey of making them.

One Painting from the series.
